Psalm 23- A Psalm of David
Okay the title might be a bit cheesy, yet I couldn’t resist. I am currently reading through the book of Psalms and arrived at my favorite, Psalm 23.
Songs are powerful, and Pslams are no different. A Psalm is a song of the heart praising God. They can lift your heart, have your soul sing, or cry. I would like to think there is a Psalm which ‘speaks’ to each of us.
When I first read Psalm 23, I felt closer to the Lord, as if he was standing beside me that very moment. It’s the Psalm that girdles up my strength, calms my nerves, and grants me patience. It’s the one which reminds me to never forget that anything is possible if we let go and let God.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for you are with me.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
