Tolerance – Kindness – Love for One Another

As I read articles and watch happenings around me, I’m reminded how intolerant and unloving we can be. Normally I pray and talk to Jesus how I feel about them, however one particular article prompted me to blog about it.

Lawmaker Preaches About Jesus as First Muslim Woman Sworn into Congress

Movita Johnson-Harrell, the first Muslim woman was to be elected to the Pennsylvania state legislature. During her swearing in ceremony, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz started her portion of the opening ceremony with a long winded prayer for Jesus forgiveness. Listen and watch her prayer below.

I’m happy to know Congress has an opening prayer to our Lord and Savior, however it’s people to do not truly try to understand Gods word and the teachings of Christ, only to treat others this way pains me.

Borowicz claims innocence to the matter, feeling she didn’t say anything wrong, however the other member of congress that day felt otherwise. Thirty two of Movita Johnson-Harrell  guests were Muslim and they were negatively affected by it.

Jordan Harris didn’t mince words, insisting Borowicz had used her religion to “intimidate, demean and degrade” Johnson-Harrell. He continued: Let me be clear. I am a Christian. I spend my Sunday mornings in church worshiping and being thankful for all that I have. But in no way does that mean I would flaunt my religion at those who worship differently than I do. There is no room in our Capitol building for actions such as this, and it’s incredibly disappointing that today’s opening prayer was so divisive.”

Walking in Love with Christ By Being an Example

In John 14:16, Jesus says to John, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.” We are instructed to be a living example of his teachings, through the Fruits of The Spirit.

Fill yourselves with the Spirit and feel the kindness inside that makes you care for others, not just being nice on the outside.
