Hello, my brothers and sisters in Christ. I have been seeing an uptick of videos on YouTube lately on topics which are not presented correctly. Although their intentions are good, some of the context and content they are presenting are not fully accurate. For example, why we “need to”, or “must know” how to pray in tongues. Other videos talk about the benefits of praying in tongues.
Read Your Scripture
Speaking in tongues is a gift from God. In the book of Acts, the apostles spoke in tongues after they received the gift from the Holy Spirit. This means they can speak different languages so the listener can understand in their own language what the apostles were saying.
The book of Acts and 1 Corinthians are a good place to start on the subject.
No matter how you pray to God, he will always hear and understand you. Speak from the heart when you do, as he knows us. He created us, his children, and loves us exactly as we are.
Before you panic when you see videos like these, keep calm and read your scripture for guidance. The content in the Bible will guide you to HIS teachings.
