I want to explain why I chose Spiritual Love Warrior as my blog title. It’s time to define what a Spiritual Love Warrior is. A spiritual love warrior is someone who chooses love and growth, and approaches challenges with compassion, strength, and integrity:
Confronting their shadows
A spiritual love warrior seeks to face their reality, including the things they have repressed, denied, and hidden. Letting go of feelings I’ve repressed has lifted me out of the darkness. I can now grow with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The heaviness of depression, along with repressed anger of past hurts is now gone. I feel much lighter as a person.

Growing their heart and soul
A spiritual love warrior commits to growing their heart and soul, and becoming a creative being.
It says in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
Creating things like bookbinding, jewelry, novels, etc, I feel closer to our Lord. This outlet centers me whenever I am working on one craft or another.

Serving others
A spiritual love warrior serves others in love, and gives generously while also giving to themselves.
I seek to be kind to people and help them when I can. I recall one person who I used to work with say that I was too helpful. I am not the type to jump in and help somebody without asking them, “Would you like some assistance?” If they say, “No”, I let off. So when this person said I was too helpful, well, I was confused. This bothered me for a long time until I asked someone about it. I was honest about the entire situation. They said I am not ‘too helpful.’ What do you think? Can someone be too helpful?

Making rational and compassionate decisions
A spiritual love warrior seeks to change others with rational and compassionate decision-making.
This one is hard to describe, as it would mean something slightly different to another person. For me, it’s about decisions in my own life. These involve confrontations, dealing with bullies, and managing folks who are unkind. It’s also about confronting those who choose to censor everything that offends them.
Recently there was a WW II reenactment in the next town over. Two of the people in this performance wore Nazi uniforms. After the performance, they visited a local restaurant to eat, while in costume. The restaurant received threats, and nasty feedback for serving these two. Um…. chillax people! They are NOT, I repeat NOT historical German soldiers who have traveled through time to dine. Yes, the Nazi regime was painful and should not have happened. But it did. It’s over. We all learned something by it. Complaining and threatening is not the answer. If some individuals thought this action was necessary, they should have approached the waitress. They could have asked, “Um, do you know why those diners are wearing Nazi costumes? It makes me feel uncomfortable.”

Letting go with forgiveness
A spiritual love warrior has learned to let go with forgiveness and avoids chasing others in revenge.
The above reenactment situation ruffled my feathers. I never seek revenge, even when my past boyfriends cheated on me. “Revenge is Mine” says the Lord. I leave it to him for revenge.
Did I let it go when I learned about the restaurant’s need to post a public apology? They served two life reenactment performers wearing Nazi uniforms. Yes. But, I can post about tolerance and understanding. I can help spread the teachings of Christ on blogs and social media. That I can do.

Facing failures
A spiritual love warrior has the courage to face their failures and prove they value themselves, their children, and each other.
Not one person is without value. We are all Gods creations, so as his children, we had value the moment he thought of us. When we fail, this value doesn’t go away. We pick ourselves up, brush off the dirt, and learn from it.
In 2nd Timothy, verse 16-17, he writes: All scripture is inspired by God, and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

This is my personal journey as a Spiritual Love Warrior. I strive to better myself, and spread God’s teachings by example. Are you a Spiritual Love Warrior and don’t know it yet?
