I spend time with the Lord on many and varied occasions. Sometimes we craft jewelry, write a post on this blog, share a cup of coffee, and even take walks.
I converse with him, as I would a close and trusting friend. There’s not one secret, fear, wish, hope, nor moment of gratitude and thankfulness I do not share. Sometimes it’s about my thoughts on things or behavio of mine or others in which I ask for clarity and guidance. He is my true North, my Sun, my Sheppard, and my Lord.
For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. ~ Psalm 84:11

It was a few weeks ago, while walking into work under the direct sun feeling warm and protected. I felt the Lord embracing me with Divine Love and Protection. Smiling, I greeted him a good morning and thanked him for the nice weather. I realized then how many times he’s there for me when moments in my life were under the sun or shade.
The moment my slow gate led me under the shade of a tree, the temperature lowered. Ah yes, He was still with me, just like in Psalm 121:5
The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
(The LORD watches over you- the LORD is your shade at your right hand)

The Lord is our Sun and our Shade
The Lord as Our Shade:
In John Chapter 8 verse 7. In the verse Jesus is speaking to Scribes regarding a woman who was to be stones for adultery. Jesus says, “He who’s without sin among you, let him cast the first stone.”
In Isaiah Chapter 25 versus 4 and 5, Isaiah says to the Lord God: “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall and like the heat of the desert. You silence the uproar of foreigners; as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless is stilled.”
THE LORD AS OUR SUN:
In John Chapter 8 verse 12, Jesus spoke to the same group, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me, shall no walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
In John Chapter 12, verse 46, Jesus says, “I have come as a light into this world that whoever believes in me should not abide in darkness.”

Prayer for Protection from God
Father, I want to live in the shadow of Your wing. When life is hard, and I don’t know what to do, help me remember that You are with me and that I am never alone. I cannot live without You. I cannot face tomorrow without the promise of Your presence. Today I choose to walk and live under the protection of You, The Most High. In Jesus’ name. Amen. – Mary Southerland
Never Fear, for He is with us
Our Lord is with us now as a shadow of trepidation and uncertainty from the Coronavirus. We can be assured the Lord is with us, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is doing all they can. Trust in the Lord to still our erratic hearts and ease our troubled souls.
